Diabetic, take care of your feet. Learn 5 important rules.
Diabetic feet require special care. Currently, in Poland, there are about 3 million diabetics, and the problem of diabetic foot affects every 10th person, which is why it is so important that every diabetic takes care of their feet every day. Here are the 5 most important rules:
- Check your feet
Daily observation of the feet should be a habit for every diabetic. Carefully observe the entire foot and the space between the toes. Make sure that the skin has no discolorations, abrasions, or hard skin. If your feet are swollen, hot, or red, an infection may have occurred.
- Wash and dry your feet thoroughly
Daily washing of the feet probably doesn't need to be mentioned. Feet should be washed preferably with grey soap or baby soap. After bathing, make sure to dry your feet properly. While drying, remember not to rub your feet hard with a towel.
- Trim your nails systematically
It is best to trim nails systematically so they do not grow too long. It is important not to cut them too short.
- Wear appropriate socks and shoes
Every day, wear socks for diabetics Reflexa, which increase blood circulation. Diabetic feet suffer mainly due to poor microcirculation, so wear Reflexa socks that increase the transport of oxygenated blood to the tissues. Walk only in shoes that are comfortable and will not rub you.
- Never walk barefoot
This is important. Walking barefoot can expose you to injury. They should be avoided with diabetes.
